Sacred Origins

The Glory of Sivanmalai Hill

"ALLARESHWARAR (ALIAS) MARUNDESHWARAR" THIRUKOIL celebrates Lord Shiva as the divine physician and supreme ruler of the cosmos. Worshipping Lord Shiva on Sivanmalai Hill is believed to alleviate life's burdens, heal bodily diseases, and grant inner peace.

The hill is naturally rich with rare medicinal plants and herbal flora. Tradition relates that Allari flora surrounded the Swayambhu Shiva Lingam, earning the Lord His divine title ALLARESHWARAR.
